Roads connecting the main towns and cities of Belize tend to be of a good standard, though weather can have adverse effects - roads in more remote regions tend to be of much worse quality, often unpaved. Belizean drivers are not known for their incredible skill behind the wheel, and traffic accidents are common - caution is advised when taking to the road. Bus services are surprisingly good in and around the larger concentrations of the population, offering transport all over the country for affordable prices - some services operate to and from remote regions as well, making the bus service pretty comprehensive. Taxis are available throughout the country, and fares should be agreed before travel, unless there is a meter switched on.
Air transport through Belize connects the mainland with the cayes and larger towns, and is a popular method for traversing the country. Maya Island Air, Tropic Air, Caribee Air Service and Javier's Flying Service all operate regular flights throughout the region.
Waterborne transports operate to and from the cayes on a frequent basis, and boats for individual transport can be hired in the most part.
