Roads into Belize are located at Chetumal in Mexico and Melchor de Mencos in Guatemala, and regular bus services to and from both these countries are available. Visitors entering the country by motor vehicle have to obtain a temporary importation permit, which can be picked up from border checkpoints.
A national driver's license is required documentation and is accepted for up to three months. After this period, an International Driving Permit has to be obtained.
